About ZapRoot

ZapRoot is an unconventional bite-sized news show that covers the fast changing world of the modern Green Revolution. With sarcasm, silliness, & sanity, host Jessica Wlliamson encourages you to have a better time while making a better world. ZapRoot is the web’s most popular green web series and feeds the best of green culture to millions of viewers a month. ZapRoot is produced by Sarah Szalavitz and Damien Somerset of 7Robot.
Damien Somerset produces ZapRoot and has written for several other green media outlets. He is also the Network Manager for ViroPop, and Editor of Ask a Ninja. His diverse credits include, Executive Producer of TreehuggerTV and Producer for Ecorazzi, Writer for Whole Life Times and Worldchanging Los Angeles, Curator for Pixelodeon, and a Web Video Consultant for GOOD Magazine. Damien was top of his class at USC Film School and has worked for years in television, film, & digital media. Damien is very active in both online media and environmental advocacy, and hopes to use both to help reshape the face of modern environmentalism.
Sarah Szalavitz produces ZapRoot and has served as the Director of Content Development for Veoh Networks, as a development executive at Brooklyn Films and briefly practiced law. She has consulted for companies including Next New Networks, Generate, Automatic Pictures, and Revver. Sarah attended the University of Southern California, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Harvard Law School. Sarah produces Alive in Baghdad, Awkward Sex Stories, and ZapRoot. She is a member of the Television Academy’s Interactive Media Peer Group, the Producers Guild, the Young Literati Steering Committee and is the Founder of Delicious Digital Brunch.
